Registering by July 7 guarantees you higher priority and maximizes your chances of securing your desired trip. If you're unable to meet this deadline, we encourage you to complete the registration form and email the Outdoor Programs office promptly to explore any available options.

Wilderness Experience

Wilderness trips take place away from vehicles, established campgrounds and typical facilities, sleeping in wilderness areas of public lands.

High Sierra Backpacking

Location:  Yosemite, California
Description:  Travel deep into California's Sierra Nevada mountains to learn backcountry travel skills, Leave No Trace ethics, and build a community of peers. The trip has significant elevation gain, so some physical fitness is recommended.

Sequoia National Park Backpacking

Location:  Sequoia, California
Description:  Home to the most massive trees in the world, soaring granite mountains, pine forests and spectacular rivers, Sequoia National Park is a worthy destination for your FYJYou’ll spend your time in the Sequoia backcountry, on the shoulder (and maybe even summit) of the picturesque Alta Peak.

SoCal Adventure

Location: Coastal, Southern California
Description:  Coastal Southern California is an adventurer’s playground. If you’ve ever wanted to try surfing or backpacking, this is your trip. You’ll spend most of your nights at a phenomenal campground overlooking the Pacific and exploring Crystal Cove State Park on an introductory overnight backpacking trip. With plenty of sun and beach time, this trip is a great introduction to SoCal.

NorCal Adventure

Location: Northern California
Description: Northern California, home to San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Marin Headlands, is a magnet for outdoor pursuits.  On this trip, you’ll experience some of the best the area has to offer, with a couple of days of beginner-friendly backpacking and a day of surfing and beach time.  The coast, the mountains, the redwoods—NorCal has it all.

Camping Experience

Camping trips will have access to water, toilets, vans where folks will sleep in tents on established campsites, typically around other visitors.

Zion National Park Adventure

Location: Utah
Description:  Adventure awaits you in Zion National Park! This trip includes camping, hiking the Narrows of the Virgin River, the West Rim Trail, and a day of canyoneering and rappelling with experienced guides. While all aspects of the trip are made with beginners in mind, the adventure level is high (as are the heights).

Big Sur

Location: Big Sur, California
Description: Big Sur is just south of San Francisco and Santa Cruz, where the Lucia Mountains meet the sea. After a long drive up Highway 1, you'll set up camp in Pfeiffer Big Sur to explore. The trip includes redwoods, huge vistas, the beach, waterfalls, and a lovely campground. You'll also enjoy sea kayaking in Morrow Bay before returning to campus.

Central Coast Adventure

Location: Central Coast, California
Description:  Maybe the best kept secret on the West Coast, the Central Coast of California is unique and spectacular. This trip experiences some of the best the region has to offer, with coastal camping, sea kayaking, day hiking, and exploration of the rugged coastline. With a side trip to Hearst Castle and an elephant seal rookery, you’ll remember this fantastic adventure.

Utah National Parks

Location: Southern Utah
Description: Southern Utah is a special place. Explore some of the best the national parks have to offer as you road trip and experience Zion, Bryce, and Capitol Reef National Parks.  Expect stunning scenery of rock hoodoos, improbable arches, expansive views, slickrock, and deep red canyons.

Sequoia National Park Adventure

Location: Sequoia, California
Description:  Love big mountains, big trees, big rivers, and big fun? Based in Sequoia National Park, on this trip you will get to experience the most massive trees in the world, spend time in the picturesque high mountains, and experience the thrill of whitewater rafting on the mighty Kern River. The rafting day includes professional guides, instruction, and all the safety equipment needed.

Campus and City Experience

City/Campus trips will stay in hostel and/or dorm-style accommodations, with showers, bathrooms, and a bed, although will typically share a room with one or more other participants.

Marin and San Francisco

Location: Marin and San Francisco, California
Description:  Based on the University of Redlands Marin campus, you’ll get the chance to explore the bay area, the city, and the area surrounding the Golden Gate. Expect dorm-style accommodations, sharing a room with a new friend or two, and spending long days out on your feet exploring. Your itinerary includes NorCal classics like the giant redwoods of Muir Woods, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the ferry from Sausalito to San Francisco.
